How the real test works
You take the final written test (本免 学科試験) at the license center (運転免許センター) of the prefecture where your residence record (住民票) is, after you graduate from driving school. Graduating lets you skip the driving test there, not the written test.
Each hazard picture shows a traffic scene with three statements about what might happen. You get its 2 points only if all three answers are right, so read every statement.
The format and pass mark come from the National Police Agency's notice on written tests (丁運発第46号). The test is offered in 20 languages; check the days and centers with your prefecture's police.

Other mock exams
- Learner's permit test (仮免): 50 true/false questions, 30 minutes, pass with 45.
- License conversion test (外免切替): 50 questions, 30 minutes, pass with 45 (since October 2025).
This is independent practice, not the official test. Questions on the real test are different. Check the format and the languages offered with your license center (運転免許センター) or driving school.
