How much does ¥100,000 to Pakistan cost?

We priced ¥100,000 paid in total by bank transfer, using quotes captured between 02:31 and 02:38 JST on October 20, 2026. Where a provider adds the fee on top, we took it out of the ¥100,000 first. Wise’s mid-market rate at that moment was 1 JPY = 1.74671 PKR. Rates change every day.

Provider Fee Rate (1 JPY =) Recipient gets (bank)
Remitly ¥0 1.7543 PKR PKR 175,430
Western Union ¥800 (some options ¥0) 1.7475 PKR PKR 173,354 (PKR 174,752 at ¥0)
SBI Remit ¥1,000 1.7478 PKR PKR 173,034
Wise ¥1,190 1.74671 PKR PKR 172,592

Remitly’s rate was slightly above the mid-market rate we recorded minutes earlier, so its total cost on this sample was below zero. Its figure is the regular price for a returning customer. New customers get a promotional rate and no fee on their first ¥100,000.

Western Union’s calculator returned two prices for bank and mobile wallet payouts, ¥0 and ¥800, without saying which applies when. We use the ¥800 price in our scores.

Cash pickup costs more. SBI Remit’s cash rate was 1.7391 PKR, so ¥100,000 gave PKR 172,168. Western Union’s cash pickup fee was ¥1,480 at 1.7318 PKR, so ¥100,000 gave PKR 170,616.

Fee only, rate not captured

How does the money arrive in Pakistan?

  • Bank account: every provider here. SBI Remit pays to all banks in Pakistan, in 10 minutes to 3 business days. Brastel says 1 to 3 business days.
  • Mobile wallet: Remitly lists Easypaisa and JazzCash. Brastel’s JazzCash payout is immediate, up to PKR 50,000 per transfer. Western Union offers mobile money.

Are remittances to Pakistan free?

On the Pakistani side, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) ended its fee reimbursement scheme for banks, the Telegraphic Transfer Charges Incentive Scheme, on July 1, 2026. It told banks to keep qualifying home remittances free for both senders and recipients, according to The News. Since a 2025 revision, a transfer must be at least $200 to qualify. ¥100,000 is about $626 at SBI Remit’s published dollar rate that day.

That rule is about Pakistani banks. Your Japanese provider still sets its own fee. KYODAI marks its ¥0 fee above ¥30,000 as a “PRI program” price, and Remitly showed ¥0 on our sample.

  • SBI Remit at FamilyMart: pay cash at the Multi Copier with a 17-digit order number, up to ¥100,000 per deposit, 07:00 to 21:00. The deposit fee is ¥800 for ¥50,000 to ¥100,000, on top of the remittance fee.

  • Western Union: accepts cash at convenience stores (コンビニ払い).

Remitly doesn’t accept cash at ATMs or credit cards from Japan. Wise is cheapest when you pay by bank transfer; a debit card raised its fee on our sample to about ¥3,700 to ¥4,900.

What do I need to sign up in Japan?

  • Residence card (在留カード). Wise, SBI Remit, Western Union, Remitly and Brastel accept it as ID for foreign residents.
  • My Number. The overseas transfer reporting law requires it for every transfer abroad, from banks and money transfer companies alike. Wise takes a My Number card, a residence record (住民票) showing your number issued in the last 6 months, or a notification slip with current details.
  • A Japanese bank account to pay by transfer, unless you use one of the cash options above.

Your name, date of birth and address must match your ID. Each transfer through a Type 2 provider is capped at ¥1,000,000 by law, and transfers over ¥1,000,000 are reported to the tax office. Our send money from Japan guide explains the limits and the cash options.
