## Summary

As of October 2026, KYODAI and Remitly gave the most taka on our ¥100,000 sample to a Bangladeshi bank account: BDT 77,971 after KYODAI's ¥800 fee, and BDT 77,961 after Remitly's ¥140 fee for a returning customer. SBI Remit gave BDT 77,898, Wise BDT 77,726, and Brastel and Western Union about BDT 77,610. Remitly pays to bKash, Nagad and Rocket. Western Union and Remitly say the recipient may also get Bangladesh's 2.5% incentive.

## Key facts

- Most received on our sample: BDT 77,971 (KYODAI)
- Mid-market rate on our sample: 1 JPY = 0.7885 BDT
- bKash payout: Remitly, Brastel
- Japan Post Bank fee: ¥3,000

To send money from Japan to Bangladesh, use a **registered money transfer company (資金移動業者)** from its app or website. On our sample of **¥100,000 sent on October 24, 2026**, **KYODAI** gave **BDT 77,971** to a Bangladeshi bank account after an ¥800 fee, and **Remitly** gave **BDT 77,961** after a ¥140 fee. SBI Remit was close behind. Japan Post Bank charges ¥3,000 before its rate. You need your residence card (在留カード) and My Number (個人番号), as of October 2026.

## How much does ¥100,000 to Bangladesh cost?

We priced ¥100,000 paid in total by bank transfer, using quotes captured between 23:01 and 23:08 JST on October 24, 2026. Where a provider adds the fee on top, we took it out of the ¥100,000 first. Wise's mid-market rate at that moment was 1 JPY = 0.788524 BDT, so ¥100,000 was worth BDT 78,852 before any costs.

| Provider | Fee | Rate (1 JPY =) | Recipient gets (bank) | Total cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| KYODAI (Ria Kyodai) | ¥800 | 0.7860 BDT | BDT 77,971 | 1.12% |
| Remitly | ¥140 | 0.7807 BDT | BDT 77,961 | 1.13% |
| SBI Remit | ¥1,000 | 0.78685 BDT | BDT 77,898 | 1.21% |
| Wise | ¥1,428 | 0.788524 BDT | BDT 77,726 | 1.43% |
| Brastel Remit | ¥880 | 0.7830 BDT | BDT 77,611 | 1.57% |
| Western Union | ¥980 | 0.7838 BDT | BDT 77,610 | 1.58% |

Total cost compares what arrives with ¥100,000 at the mid-market rate. Rates change every day, so check the live price before you send.

The top three are within BDT 73 of each other, so the rate on the day matters more than the brand. Remitly's figure is the regular price for a returning customer. New Remitly customers got no fee and a promotional rate on the first ¥100,000, which gave BDT 78,820.

Western Union's figure is also its regular price. A new visitor saw the ¥980 fee waived and a better bank rate, which gave BDT 79,008, more than the mid-market amount. Its mobile wallet rate gave BDT 77,641 and its cash pickup BDT 77,281.

We used ¥880 for Brastel because its Bangladesh fee table and its fee simulator both show ¥880 for ¥1,000 to ¥100,000. Its app page shows a general table with ¥1,480 for ¥30,001 to ¥100,000, which would give the recipient BDT 77,141. Check the fee in the app before you send.

### Cash pickup and wallet prices

The bank account is usually the cheapest payout. On the same sample:

| Provider | Payout | Fee | Recipient gets |
|---|---|---|---|
| SBI Remit | Cash (MoneyGram) | ¥1,000 | BDT 77,665 |
| Western Union | eWallet | ¥980 | BDT 77,641 |
| Western Union | Cash pickup | ¥980 | BDT 77,281 |
| KYODAI | eWallet | ¥1,480 | BDT 77,240 |
| KYODAI | Cash pickup | ¥1,480 | BDT 77,043 |

Remitly's calculator returned the same ¥140 fee and rate for bank, cash and wallet payouts. Japan Post Bank (ゆうちょ銀行) also sends to Bangladesh, for ¥3,000 per transfer, and intermediary or receiving banks may take more from the amount. We couldn't record its rate.

## Which provider is best for Bangladesh?

We score each provider with a full price on the sample, using our [remittance method](/money/remittance/send-money-from-japan/): total cost (30%), speed (15%), payout options (15%), sign-up for foreigners (15%), support (10%) and regulation (15%). "n/a" means no evidence, and it's left out of the average.

How the 0–10 scale maps, the same on every country page:

| Criterion | Scale |
|---|---|
| Cost | 10 minus 3 points per 1% of total cost (1% = 7, 2% = 4) |
| Speed | From published delivery times. 9: bank deposit in seconds. 8: a payout in about 10 minutes, and no bank time over a day. 7: within a few hours, or cash or wallet in minutes but bank deposits up to 3 business days. 6: within about a working day. 5: 1 to 3 business days. n/a: no published time |
| Payouts | 4: bank only. 6: bank and cash pickup. 8: bank and cash plus an unnamed wallet or mobile money, or bank plus wallets without cash. 9: bank, cash and a named local wallet (such as bKash, GCash or eSewa). 10: that, plus several wallets and home delivery |
| Sign-up | 8: residence card or My Number card checked in the app, no mailed step. 7: residence card accepted, with a courier step or fewer published details. Lower if you must visit a counter; 0 if foreign residents can't sign up |
| Support | 8: English app and site with a detailed English help center. 7: English app, site and customer service. Lower if support is in Japanese only |
| Regulation | 10: registered with the FSA as a funds transfer provider, or a licensed bank. 0: not registered |

- **Remitly:** a near-tie for the most taka, and the only one listing bKash, Nagad and Rocket; no published delivery times.
- **KYODAI:** the most taka to a bank account on our sample, with cash pickup and an e-wallet option; no published delivery times.
- **Brastel Remit:** bank, cash pickup and bKash (¥480 fee), but its bKash limit is below our sample amount and bank deposits take 1 to 3 business days.
- **SBI Remit:** close third on cost, with MoneyGram cash pickup in about 10 minutes; no wallet.
- **Western Union:** cash pickup and eWallet in minutes, but bank deposits take about 3 business days and it gave the lowest bank amount at its regular price.
- **Wise:** mid-market rate, but a ¥1,428 fee, bank accounts only and an estimated arrival of about a day on our quote.

All six are registered with the FSA: KYODAI's operator Unidos (Kanto 00004), SBI Remit (Kanto 00008), Brastel (Kanto 00016), Western Union Japan (Kanto 00039), Wise Payments Japan (Kanto 00040) and Remitly Japan (Kanto 00077).

**Best for:**

- **Most taka to a bank account:** KYODAI or Remitly; compare both on the day.
- **bKash, Nagad or Rocket:** Remitly.
- **Fast cash pickup:** SBI Remit through MoneyGram, or Western Union.
- **Your first transfer:** Remitly and Western Union both gave new customers more than their regular price.

## Does my family get the 2.5% incentive?

Western Union and Remitly both advertise a 2.5% incentive for the recipient on transfers to Bangladesh. Western Union says it is paid by the Government of Bangladesh on eligible transfers, with no extra application, and that it may apply to bank, cash and mobile wallet payouts.

None of the amounts in our tables include it. Whether a transfer qualifies is decided in Bangladesh, so ask the receiving bank or wallet provider.

## How does the money arrive in Bangladesh?

- **Bank account:** SBI Remit pays to all banks in Bangladesh and needs the routing number, account number and recipient name. Western Union says it covers 95% of bank accounts. Remitly names banks such as Agrani Bank, BRAC Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Islami Bank Bangladesh and Janata Bank.
- **bKash and other wallets:** Remitly lists bKash, Nagad and Rocket. Brastel pays to bKash, and Western Union and KYODAI offer an eWallet payout.
- **Cash pickup:** SBI Remit uses MoneyGram's network. Brastel names Agrani Bank, Bank Asia, BRAC Bank, Islami Bank, Janata Bank and The City Bank.

**bKash limits with Brastel:** Brastel's bKash limit is BDT 75,000 per transfer on its limits table, and BDT 25,000 in a note on its fees page. Either way, a ¥100,000 transfer (about BDT 78,000) is above it. bKash transfers aren't processed on Fridays and Saturdays, and a bKash account can hold at most BDT 150,000.

## How long does it take?

- **SBI Remit:** 10 minutes to 3 business days to a bank account; MoneyGram cash pickup in about 10 minutes, though it may take several hours to two days.
- **Western Union:** cash pickup and eWallet in minutes; bank accounts in about 3 business days, generally 3 to 5.
- **Brastel Remit:** bKash "immediately" on its app page, but its fees page says bKash transfers received after 2pm Bangladesh time go the next working day; cash pickup in 15 minutes to 3 hours, bank deposits in 1 to 3 business days.
- **Wise:** our Saturday-night quote estimated arrival by Sunday.

Remitly and KYODAI don't publish delivery times for Bangladesh.

## How do I send money to Bangladesh step by step?

## Can I pay in cash without a bank transfer?

Yes, with some providers. This helps if you're new in Japan and your [bank account](/money/banking/bank-account-for-foreigners-japan/) isn't ready yet.

- **Western Union:** you can pay at a convenience store (コンビニ払い).
- **SBI Remit:** pay cash at a convenience store for a ¥800 deposit fee on ¥50,000 to ¥100,000, or use its Remit Card at Japan Post ATMs (¥330 up to ¥50,000, ¥500 above) or Lawson Bank ATMs (¥300).
- **Brastel Remit:** deposit with its free card at Japan Post Bank ATMs for ¥440 (¥1,000 to ¥110,000).

Remitly doesn't accept credit cards from Japan. Wise is cheapest when you pay by bank transfer; a debit card raised its fee on our sample to between ¥4,067 and ¥4,928.

## What do I need to sign up in Japan?

- **Residence card.** KYODAI, Remitly, Wise, SBI Remit, Western Union and Brastel accept it as ID for foreign residents. KYODAI wants it with your current address. SBI Remit sends a Welcome Pack by courier and may also ask for your passport if your card shows your name in kanji.
- **My Number.** The overseas transfer reporting law asks senders for it, and Wise asks for a My Number document if you verify with a residence card. See our guide to the [My Number card](/life/admin/my-number-card-foreigners/).
- **A way to pay in yen.** Most providers want a bank transfer from your Japanese account; the cash options are above.

Each transfer through a Type 2 provider is capped at ¥1,000,000 by law, and transfers over ¥1,000,000 are reported to the tax office. Japan Post Bank's own limit is under ¥1,000,000 per transfer, and its checks can take more than a month.
